In Part 1 of this series, we took a look Final Cut X’s Exposure controls. We examined how they interacted with each other and gained some insights in what order we might want to use those controls. In this article, we’ll explore the Color controls.
Like the Exposure controls, we have four ‘pucks’ that allow us to manipulate the image… but instead of brightness we are manipulating color.
There’s an overall Master control, plus three tonal controls… Shadows, Midtones and Highlights.
The questions at hand:
- How much do these controls overlap with each other?
- How much do these controls effect our Exposure settings (if at all)?
- Does there seem to be a logical ‘order of operations’ that we can infer to help us determine which controls to manipulate first?
