Hyper Real Look

Look Inspiration – Hyperreal Look

October 26, 2015

We all strive to create the most cinematic looking images possible but sometimes its fun to go for a harsh hyperreal sharp bright look.

Look Inspiration – Hyperreal Look

In this insight I pushed my self so far outside my comfort zone I can’t even see it! No soft cinematic images in sight this time!

As a commercial colorist I do find myself grading a lot of my work in this bright advertising hyperreal space.

I decided to throw my normal methods out the window and try and create a sci-fi inspired hyperreal look.

I used lots of techniques that I would normally save for a fashion film that is lit with hard light.

I know this look isn’t for everyone but I’d encourage you to try it out as I felt like I learned a lot when trying out this style.

Check out my video below for the creation of the look.

  • very cool look breakdown! I enjoy look breakdowns as they tend to go over 5-6 different techniques strategies, which can usually be used on other ways if yo think about it. Thanks for the inspiration! How about a your take on a “dark studio” Horror or thriller look?

Hé Dan, Great insight! I actually really like this look. (don’t use it too often though)
you really knocked it out of the park.
Now I just need to find a nice project to get it out of my system.
