Adding Depth To Video : Putting Theory Into Action

Adding Depth To Video : Putting Theory Into Action

May 14, 2013

After my 3-part series on the theory of Depth-of-Field and techniques simulating it, the theory is put to action—learn how you can use these techniques.

Series

I hope everyone enjoyed my previous series on adding depth to your image! I think the next step is to show you guys how you can apply the same knowledge and techniques to your video footage.

On my journey from photographer to colorist I found applying these techniques helped me get the best out of my images. In this 3 part series I’ll show you how to grade Blackmagic Cinema Camera footage thanks to the awesome afterglow footage shot by John Brawley which you can download out here. We’ll also look at the challenges that motion pictures introduce versus still images.

If you haven’t checked out my previous 3 part series on the theory of adding depth to images please use the Series Links up above and watch them to get up to speed!
