Dan Unfiltered: Start To Finish 16mm Style Grade

In part four of this 16mm style grade, we jump right back in where I left off.

In this part, we take a look at my final matching pass on the music video.

After taking a break from the film for a couple of days it’s great to re-visit each scene with fresh eyes and re-examine why I’ve gone for a particular look on each scene.

Notice that quite a few scenes lean toward the greener side of things. Perhaps my eyes were tired, me being a bit too Irish or simply that I was obsessing about a particular detail like matching the skies and let the other details slide.

I still rely heavily on the printer lights for my matching pass and move over to log and primary controls when required for tighter matching on particularly tricky shots.

I feel like this is possibly the last Insight in this series, I’m more than happy to do one more to look at a particular issue or technique but it would be to answer any questions or requests you may have.

Let’s jump over to the video Insight below to check out my next

Comments Please!

I’m always extra excited to hear comments on these Insights as I can make sure to cover any questions in the next part.

hey guys 🙂 is there any reason that dan’s videos never have speed adjustment controls in the player when every other insight does? i’m slammed for time more often than not and don’t get a lot of chances to watch your great isights, so when i do get the time, i really value being able to watch them at 1.5x speed! cheers, al
