Look Theory: How I Grade Part One

From My Brain To Your Screen

A great comment came up on one of my thinking like a colorist series about how I grade.

A member commented that I was making giant leaps and bounds when making grading decisions.

This is something I always try and be as clear as possible on but realise as I grade all day every day and have done for almost 10 years now I take certain things for granted.

This special two-part series is my effort to document every thought that goes through my hands, eyes and brain when grading.

I’d love to do a third part in this series where I address specific comments on these two so please do send me anything you have!

Getting Started

In this part of the Insight we are going to focus on the very first steps of grading.

From quality control of the footage going in, assessing for issues that may creep up in the future right up to starting the primary grade.

Part two will be released very soon as part of the marathon so watch this space!

If you’ve got any questions, be sure to leave a comment!
