Have you ever wondered where the terminology used in color grading originates?
In this episode of the Color Timer Podcast, I spoke with the multi-talented Daria Fissoun, CSI.
Daria is a highly skilled colorist, compositor, and certified DaVinci Resolve trainer with over a decade of experience in the post-production industry. She is also a Mixing Light contributor.
We dove into the details of Daria’s latest project, a literal thesis about the etymology used in color correction and grading.
Where do these terms come from?
I had no idea I wanted to learn about this subject, but Daria quickly made me realize how incredible a history of our craft there is to discover.
“Understanding how these terms have evolved historically and what their original intention was might give people more confidence in how they approach color grading or how they use certain parameters.“
Daria Fissoun, CSI
Based in London, Daria has worked on an impressive range of projects, from feature films and commercials to high-profile collaborations with global brands like Microsoft, Nike, and Konami.
