When dealing with complicated masks and multiple nodes all doing a similar job, the key mixer node can be a lifesaver! It’s probably the least used node in Resolve and can be a little tricky to set up but once you learn how to use the key mixer it becomes a powerful part of your arsenal.
I’ll be showing you two ways how to use the key mixer node, firstly how to set it up as a master control for multiple masks and secondly on how to build garbage masks to get cleaner keys.
Thanks to Samtubia Edwards for the BMC footage! You can find it here : https://vimeo.com/70013915 (note: this footage is no longer available. If we can get permission to offer a direct download here on Mixing Light, we will do so.)
This is a little tricky so please let me know if you have any questions!
