Dirty Looks – Looks Throughout The Ages

June 25, 2016

At some point in every colorists career you will be asked to make some looks throughout the ages like 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. Dan shares how.

I’ll be tackling the process of adding looks throughout the ages in this insight.

They keep coming up in my grading suite and are both incredibly easy and hard at the same time so I thought they would make an excellent addition to my dirty looks series.

I’ll be tackling the process of adding looks throughout the age.

I just finished a commercial that starts in the 60s and moves through the 70s, 80s, 90s and today.

The grades them selves are probably overused and cliche these days but I feel that they are really necessary especially in the commercial world to be very obvious.

The spot I graded has some great art direction but the bones of the commercial was reliant on the grade.

That commercial hasn’t been released yet but I love this similar styled commercial

I’m going to cover each era in a dedicated insight as it’s hard to define one look for each era so we’ll look at multiple options.

In this insight, I’ll give you a good overview of some of these looks and share my thoughts on this in general!

Check out my video below to see my looks in action!
