Using Haze Creatively - Adding Depth To Your Image

Using Haze Creatively – Adding Depth To Your Image Without Using Shapes

January 7, 2017

Using Haze as a grading tool is an alternative method to using Vignettes. Making things lower contrast helps them sit back in the image.

Day 7: 25 Insights in 25 Days New Year Marathon

Is using haze an alternative to using Vignettes?

In this insight, I take a look at using haze while grading.

Its something I’ve never thought about until a photographer I was grading a film for was doing some retouching in my suite one day.

I noticed he was using haze to push elements into the background of the image to lead your eye to the model.

It was a personal Ah-Ha moment as I’d never considered using a natural effect like haze to push things back in the image.

In the video insight below I ask the question is it worth keeping in your grading toolkit for the perfect scenario?

Is Adding Haze Worth The Effort?

I had fun trying the haze route while researching the insight but to be honest I haven’t used it since.

I’d love for you guys to check out my insight below, download the haze and try yourself.
