How has 2026 been going for you? I hope it’s off to a strong start.

One of our goals at Mixing Light is to help ensure that 2026 is a strong year for your career.

Rolling out over the next few months are Contributor-created courses, using Mixing Light as their platform. They’ll create their courses using our backend and Mixing Light will handle the technical / payment details.

We also have a Contributor rolling out their own premium service (focused on helping creatives on the business side of their careers), and will be integrating a Mixing Light membership as a core feature – which we’re excited about.

Personally, I have a Mixing Light To-Do list as long as I am tall – and my 2026 goal is to execute on that To Do list, from start to finish.

My motto for 2026? Be relentlessly diligent.

Color grading related: I’ve been working extensively in JPLog2 the past eight weeks, and I love it. When grading within it, with exposure set properly, I feel like I’ve rewinded to 2007 where the control surface feels 100% natural and I’m spending less time thinking about color management and more time just… grading.

The control surface feels like it’s come alive again.

I look forward to sharing an Insight or two on my JPLog2 workflow, once the series I’m grading wraps and I have time to focus on Mixing Light again (which is the end of January).

Alrighty then, let’s kick off this new year of Color Grading, and I hope you enjoy this week’s Newsletter!

Happy Grading!

Sincerely,

Pat Inhofer

Autumn Durald Arkapaw, ASC becomes only the fifth woman ever nominated in the Society’s top category, while Łukasz Żal’s acclaimed work on Hamnet notably missed the cut.
