Happy 2025!

We’re back – but not rested. The television series I’m working on is behind schedule, so it’s up to the grading/finishing team (me) to make up for lost time and hit the network delivery deadlines.

I’m not complaining—I’m just saying that I’m going to need to take some time off in early February.

I haven’t gotten through my full backlog of stories in this edition. But given the two-week break, I’m surprised there isn’t more to go through. So I guess a lot of the Internet took these past two weeks off. Good for you, internet!

Let’s get to it. I’ll see you next Sunday.

Happy Grading!

Sincerely,

Pat Inhofer

The Craft
Featuring the work of creative craftsmen, the theory of color, and industry news. Learn practical workflows, useful theories, and actionable insights from existing (and emerging) leaders and teachers in our industry.
“Thrasher began speaking with people who mine for opals and people who study photonics and learned that opals could be made synthetically—but also that those recipes are closely held secrets. So he decided to design his own. Along the way, he explored the science of everything from poisons to optical illusions to impossible colors.

His new book, The Universe in 100 Colors, co-authored with his friend and designer Terry Mudge, is a vibrant exploration of what he’s learned about color and color perception. We recently spoke about his new book, his love of color, and the power of amateur science.”
