Annotations in Adobe SpeedGrade are a powerful way to make notes directly on footage while you're grading. Learn how Annotations work.

Making Notes With Annotations In SpeedGrade CC

Annotations? Yep, I know what you’re thinking – aren’t those for academic books? They are, but in SpeedGrade CC Annotations are used for making notes directly on the footage, without having to rely on pen and paper.

In thisĀ Insight, I’ll explore how Annotations work in SpeedGrade CC.

Pen & Paper = What?

I bet you’re like most colorists – you always have a notebook, or a pad of paper & pen next to you.No matter if its a review, a spotting session with a client or a shot that you want to come back to later on, the fact is as colorists we make a lot of notes.

There are two problems with the pen and paper approach.

First, if you’re anything like me since I type most of the time, I have terrible handwriting! Sometimes after making notes in a notebook even after studying my errr…handwriting I can not for the life of me figure out what I wrote.

Second, even if I can read my handwriting, sometimes I can’t decode what I meant – yellow up, blue down, desat contrast – that makes sense right?

I’ve tried lots of different things including doing notes digitally with an iPad, but I still struggle with good notes.
